Consistent quality, returning student

This was my third time taking a course at Kirkwood, this time for Web Development. Just like my previous experiences with Liberal Arts and then some Continuing Education Units, the online platform was reliable and the course content was current. I appreciate the consistency. It's why I keep coming back.

Great value, worth it

I was really focused on finding an affordable path for my HVAC Training. Kirkwood came up as a top contender, especially with the Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grant. That really helped cut down costs. I applied, got accepted, and the process for the grant was pretty straightforward once I understood it. Feeling like I got a really good deal for the education I'm receiving. Definitely worth the investment.

Detailed Nursing Program review

I completed the Nursing Program here, and it was a rigorous but rewarding experience. The application process was competitive, requiring specific prerequisites to be met beforehand. Once accepted, the curriculum was well-structured, combining classroom theory with extensive clinical rotations. Our instructors were very supportive, often staying late to help. The simulation labs were state-of-the-art and prepared us well for real-world scenarios. Financial aid, specifically the Foundation Scholarships, helped a lot. My only minor suggestion would be for more evening clinical options, as the current schedule was quite demanding for those with family commitments. Overall, I feel well-prepared for my career.

Good programs, some forms confusing

I enrolled in the Business Administration program last semester. The classes were solid and the instructors knowledgeable. I feel like I'm getting a good foundation. The financial aid process was a bit clunky, though. Navigating all the forms for the Pell Grant took some time, and I had to call their office twice to clarify things. Overall, a positive experience, but they could streamline the application stuff a little.

Are there any like 'promo codes' or actual discounts for continuing ed classes at Kirkwood? Looking to take a graphic design workshop but trying to save some money.

B Ben D. 1 week ago
Nah, they don't really do promo codes like a regular store. For continuing ed, your best bet is to check if there are any specific grants or maybe if your employer offers tuition reimbursement. No coupon codes though, afaik.

Yeah, I tried looking for a coupon for a class once, no luck. Financial aid stuff is usually through FAFSA or specific scholarships, not like a Black Friday deal.

Anyone gone through the online degrees at Kirkwood? Wondering if they're legit and if it's hard to get help from professors when you're not on campus.

B Betty Young 2 weeks ago
Yeah, the online degrees are totally legit, they're accredited just like the on-campus ones. As for help, it varies by instructor but most are pretty good about responding to emails or setting up virtual office hours. It's not like you're just left on your own.

I took a couple of online classes there. Some profs were super responsive, others took a bit longer, but I always got my questions answered eventually. It's doable.

When's the best time to apply for financial aid for Kirkwood? Trying to figure out my timeline for next fall.

A Amanda T. 1 week ago
Definitely get your FAFSA done as soon as it opens, usually October 1st for the following academic year. The earlier, the better, for grants and stuff before funds run out. Kirkwood's own deadlines might be a bit later, but FAFSA first!

Yeah, FAFSA early is key. I missed some grant money one year because I waited too long.

Thinking of doing the automotive tech program. How are the instructors there? Is it a good program if I want to actually get a job after?

J Joseph 2 weeks ago
My buddy did the auto tech program and got a job right after graduation. He said the instructors were super knowledgeable and had real-world experience, not just textbook stuff. They have good connections too.

It's a really solid program. Kirkwood has a pretty good reputation for their trade programs, and automotive is one of the stronger ones.

Hey everyone, thinking of applying to Kirkwood for the vet tech program. Is it hard to get into? Also, does anyone know if they have housing options? Would be moving from out of state.

L Linda Perez 3 days ago
Vet tech is pretty competitive but not impossible. You just gotta make sure your grades are good and get your application in on time. As for housing, I'm pretty sure they don't have dorms. Most people rent apartments nearby or commute.

Yeah, no on-campus housing for Kirkwood, sorry! My friend went there and lived in an apartment complex like 10 mins away. It wasn't too bad though.
